Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I access Night Shift 2024?

If you are assigned to the intervention arm of the clinical trial, you can find Night Shift 2024 loaded on the home screen of the iPad that you received. If you are not part of the trial and want to view the game, or if you are in the trial and need to reload the application for some reason, you can access the app at this link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/night-shift-2024/id6448066837 . Please note that the game is only playable on an iPad. We did not design it for any other environment (e.g., Android, phones).

2. What do I do with the iPad when I am done?

If you received an iPad from us, it is yours to keep at the end of the trial. It is currently registered to the University of Pittsburgh, and will be remotely managed. At the end of the trial (i.e., in October 2024), we will reset all the devices to factory settings remotely.

3. How do I create a login id and password to access Night Shift 2024?

To create a login id and password use the Register button on the Home Screen of the website.

4. How do I reset my password?

To reset password please visit the login page and click reset password.

5. How do I play Night Shift 2024?

We have videos demonstrating the game mechanics for Night Shift 2024 and Graveyard Shift. If you still have questions, please contact the PI (Deepika Mohan).

6. I am having trouble making the connections in the cases within Night Shift 2024, is there someplace I can get help?

We have a cheat sheet for the clueboards within the game. Please navigate to the page labelled "Cheat Sheet" ONLY if you do not mind spoilers.

7. How do I pause the Night Shift 2024 game? Does it pick up where you left off?

To pause or exit out during play, tap on the hamburger menu (icon with three lines) in the upper left corner of the screen. You can elect to return to the main menu where you can log out of the game. You will pick up where you left off.

8. Can you go backward in the Night Shift 2024 game?

No, you cannot go backward in the game. However, if you need to review past dialogue, you can do so by tapping on the transcript icon (looks like a notebook page) on any of the game play screens. The last 100 lines of dialog will be displayed.

9. Where can I provide feedback on my experience?

If you are enrolled in either the Night Shift or SONAR trials, please use the assessment forms to provide feedback. If those are not sufficient, or if you are not enrolled in either trial, please feel free to contact the PI (mohand@upmc.edu).

10. The SONAR application or other webpages seem to not be scaled properly?

Please adjust your browser zoom settings. In Chrome this is found in the top right menu bar, adjust incrementally from 100% as needed.

11. The SONAR application seems to be cropped on my Ipad?

SONAR is designed to be played in landscape mode. Please rotate your Ipad to landscape mode to play.

12. What do I do if I encounter a bug while playing Night Shift the video game?
